How to Revalidate and Remobilize for NYSC: If for any reason you failed to attend your NYSC orientation camp for your service year or after graduation you were deployed a previous year other than the current year of mobilization and you did not attend and you were not at the NYSC orientation camp during your mobilization, you must apply for NYSC revalidation or re-mobilization based on whichever category you fall into.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by-law, which is enforced by the hierarchy of different NYSC State Secretariats, who act on the auspice of the Director General of the Service, states that anyone who fails to show up at the NYSC orientation camp after being called up for the mandatory one year of National Service after graduation from the University of Polytechnic shall be punished but out of leniency.

The National Youth Service Corps have decided that all prospective corps members who did not show up at their respective states where they have been mobilized can now do so through a process called the NYSC Revalidation.

NYSC Revalidation: Things you should know

The NYSC revalidation is specifically created for the following category of people.

Graduates from either University of Polytechnic who failed to attend their NYSC orientation camp after they have been mobilized as a result of financial constraints or distance.

Graduates that are unaware that they have been sent their NYSC letter of mobilization.

Graduates who forgot important documents before heading to the camp and it prevented them from being registered in the process.

Graduates who arrived at the camp late after the registration window has ended, thereby preventing them from registration.

Graduates that have been mobilized but were unable to show up at the camp or after showing up they were unable to be registered.

Please note that if you do not have a state code number which is your unique NYSC number that identifies your state that you have been mobilized to, your NYSC year and your batch or personnel number, you are part of this category of people who need NYSC revalidation.

How To Apply For NYSC Revalidation

To apply for NYSC revalidation, follow the process below:

Make sure that you apply for revalidation when a new batch is being mobilized.

Visit the NYSC portal and click on the registration column. After clicking on registration, you will be redirected to the registration option.

Then click revalidation and follow the instruction you are given in order to revalidate your profile.

Revalidation is done with the credentials you use for the registration on the NYSC portal in the previous batch. If you have done your revalidation with the same batch, for example, if you missed batch A stream 1 mobilization and then you apply for batch A stream 2, you will likely be posted back to the same state. But if you missed batch C camp mobilization and you apply for batch A or B, you will likely be posted to a different state.

Once all the criteria is met, you will be revalidated and please note that you may be asked to make another payment and also choose another state of deployment.

Click on the submit button and print out your NYSC revalidation slip.

NYSC Remobilization: Key details

The NYSC re-mobilization is for the following category of people.

Those who have been registered at the camp and after being posted to their place of primary assignment (PPA) absconded and never completed their service here.

Those who were sent out of camp for their indiscretions.

If a corp member do not report to their place of primary assignment for a period of three months, (90 – 110 days), they will be declared as absconded by the National Youth Service Corps.

Unlike revalidation, those who apply for re-mobilization would not need to go to the NYSC orientation camp again as the NYSC does not allow an individual to participate in the NYSC orientation camp twice.

It takes about five months for the NYSC State Secretariat through the Local Government Inspector, Zonal Inspector or the State Coordinator to declare a corp member as absconded.

Once a corp member has been declared absconded, the headquarters of the scheme in Abuja is notified with proper verification.

If an absconded corp member receives the allowance outside camp, he or she must refund the allowance immediately to the service.
